Had this H reg car for a few years and it inherited the good bits from a previous G40 I owned. Ownership has been trouble free apart from usual age related issues most of which have been sorted now. It has around 170000miles, but still uses little oil between services. Used regularly for work and did a 2000 mile round trip to the pyrenees last summer and a trip to Scotland involving a 50 mile drive with snow chains this Feb with no problems so I can vouch for the reliability in hot and cold weather!

Spec: Standard apart from.....  :D

Flowed charger (home brew, but copied Jabba R1 + a bit extra)
Ported head (Jabba)
65mm toothed pulley
GT inlet  (port matched)
Metal head gasket
Dewedged throttle body
Big filter and heatshield (Jabba)
Non-Standard coil
Catch tank
Boost return mod (designed so any oil spray is squirted at the exhaust rather than coating the engine bay!)
Stainless exhaust + decat (subtle, deep note and not too loud)
Injectors ('Green') + Chip to suit all the above (PSD)
Oil cooler

Larger master brake cylinder
Copper brake pipes
Braided flexible pipes
Subframe + Wishbones (PPP)
H&R Cup kit (shock+springs)
Boost gauge

Body is sound with no major rust, but is a little tatty. I had new sills and part of floor done late last year so the painful work has been done.

This was built to be a sleeper and it really is. It looks like a bog standard Polo until closer inspection.

No proof of power, but it has the usual G characteristics. Piss-poor traction off the line (although this is now tolerable with the wishbones), blistering 2nd gear and it just keeps on after that! 0-100 is at least as quick as modern hot-hatches, but by-god its more of an event getting there! With the wishbone set up it handles like a go-kart too.

Really don't want to let it go, but need something more sensible (Scooby STi estate ;D) and don't have the storage space to keep it.

Car likely to be up for sale on ebay in the next week, after offers by other interested parties have been taken.

A few extra points for prospective buyers as its short on MOT (expires June 3rd, tax till end of May):

Has developed a leak from the brake fluid resevoir - should be cheap fix, brakes work fine.
One wheel is not balanced well (lost a weight?), slight judder at speed.
Slight play in tie rod - needs new ball joint.
Weepy unions on oil cooler - easy fix.
Boost gauge not included.

Fix those and it should fly through MOT mechanically (might only get advisorys for them). Emissions normally require a second attempt after the CO is trimmed down (its pre 1992 so has the non-CAT test).
