VW & Audi Track day 24th July Castle Combe
« on: April 22, 2010, 10:11:26 am »
There is a track day coming up at Castle Combe in july.

A dedicated day for VW & Audi owners to take their car on the track and other VW group cars such as Seat & Skoda are welcome!

You can do a single session for £40 which last around 15 minutes. There is a booking form below to have a look as prices, qutie expensive i think!

Here is booking form https://www.secure-server-hosting.com/secutran/secureforms/sh207687/trackdayformbb.html

And some more info: Taken from http://www.autometrix.co.uk/trackdaysbooking.html

Advance online booking provides a 10% discount up to the week before the event.  We can also take bookings on the day (subject to availability) but please arrive early (sign on at 8 am) if you want to do a full track day.

A full-day booking entitles you to 6 session tickets ( 3 to be taken am and 3 pm ) or you can book for a half day (3 session tickets) and choose am or pm. Each session usually provides 10-15 mins of clear track time, with entrants expected to queue as necessary to achieve the full ticket entitlement. Additional session tickets can also be bought on the day, subject to availability. The entry is per individual car, which can be shared by more than one driver.

Please note that an advance track entry entitles the driver to free paddock entry. Additional passengers, and any friends/family/crew in an accompanying car will be allowed entry to the paddock, but will be asked by Castle Combe gate staff to pay the normal entry fee of £10 per person.

ALL DRIVERS MUST SHOW A FULL CURRENT DRIVING LICENCE ON THE DAY.   Drivers and passengers must also wear a crash helmet. It's best to bring your own, but helmets can be hired on the day, subject to a fee of £5 to hire plus a refundable deposit.

Scrutineering

All vehicles will need to be sound checked and must comply to the strict noise limit of 100 db(A), which is measured at 0.5 metre from the exhaust outlet at 4500 rpm.

Note that there is no independent mechanical scrutineering; you are
responsible for ensuring that your car is at very least to full MoT standard and in a suitable condition / preparation for circuit driving.

Provided conditions are dry, cars fitted with slick tyres are permitted, but will be subject to strict monitoring of driving standards.

Passengers
Front seat passengers are allowed, but must be over the age of 16. Report to the information desk on the day to complete an indemnity form and pay a single £5 admin fee.

Parade laps
Under-16s can ride as passengers on the special lunchtime parade session, a very popular feature for parents with children, treating them to a ride around a real race circuit. Childrens parade lap £5.

First-time drivers
Our track days are not just for seasoned specialists, we also encourage first-timers to take part. A comprehensive briefing is given and an instructor is available to give advice.

We can also provide expert advice on preparation and procedures for anyone interested in taking part in track days for the first time. Contact us on 01525 750 500 or e-mail:  mail@autometrix.co.uk

Spectators
As well as watching the exciting track sessions, there are also trade stands, demo drives, club displays and a Show 'n' Shine. Spectators are more than welcome, although note that Castle Combe makes an entry charge of £10 per person.

Also you can race with slick tyres on but they look at you more to see how you drive, if you drive to reckless they will tell you to put on your road tyres.

that is quite expensive, £190 for the full day but it's not an uncommon price in mid-summer these days unfortunately.  I'd be tempted but that's just too expensive for me, would end up costing loads including fuel and getting there and back

Yeah that is a good point about it being all straight. I think it would be good to go just to meet up really.

Im going as long as nothing comes up.
