I'm just about to change my engine mount on the driverside to a non g40 one and just wondering is there any way that I can get round not having a engine crane or Engine support beam?? I know I can't just put a trolley jack under the sump as it will crumple but do I realy have to go out n buy or ren a engine crane or support beam ??

Undid the engine mount two bolts and the main bolt, then I used a block of wood under the sump/gearbox, Jack under that, only needs to go up an inch.  Loosened alot the gearbox mount (may have taken it out if i remember - the single bolt), Then when jacked up, used my 2ft extension/torque bar to push the engine over a little to slide out.  The charger and alternator were removed (only takes say 15minutes to remove the charger and alternator) when i did it though.

Ok cheers mate I'll try that , did you use just one block of wood that goes under the sump and gearbox and a jack in the middle if that or did you use two jacks and blacks with one underneath the gearbox and sump?? I mite get away with just doing the sump side ad I've only go to change one mount. And what did you leaver against to move the engine over slightly , like where'd you put your bar in?

just a block of wood on top of the jack to spread the load and not dent the sump.
