SuperMario

What would happen if you put one of them (middle one) on the wrongway round?

Robin

the cam bore won't be aligned as the caps are machined when fixxed to the head to ensure high centricity (sp) for the cam to sit.

SuperMario

aa so it wouldnt be ok if they were the wrong way. reason i ask, i just put one back on, and after charging the battery for abit, when attempting to start it sounded very grindy/dry, but only spun about 3times

Robin

yes it will be bad news if you ran it with the caps the wrong way round! you'll muller the cam and cap!

SuperMario

Well at least i no the problem! only 3 spins should be ok?? thank god the battery wasnt fully charged up!

You will have to have a look to see if there is any scoring. The damage will depend on how far off the central line the bore was machined. Sometimes you will find they are near dead centre, others can be further off. You will see this when you offer up the cap the wrong way round to the seat (without the cam in place) and look at the 'circle' that the cam sits in!
