Leak...Help?!?!?!
« on: December 12, 2009, 06:10:47 pm »
Hi,

Have what seems to be a leak in the rear of my car...Here is a picture to explain:

The car has a sunroof, the drain pipes are not blocked. The leak comes from inside the car from up somewere in the pillar so is extremely hard to look at. The water doesnt seem to be gushing out, but has formed alot of condensation in the car and got my boot mat wet.

I've held on the rear washer and it didnt seem to cause any water to come down, although it may take time for it to all run down?

Any ideas?

Cheers

if there's no water visible when using the back wiper, fold down the back seat and get in and get some one to run a hose over the car till you see where its coming in.

well think about it - where could it come from?  1. tailgate seal 2. rear side window 3. aerial.  Those are the only joins up there really.

rear washer runs through the otherside rear doorcard etc so wont be that.

you sure that its that high? normally the leak is from the rear clusters

its defo coming from right up there

I'll get the hose on it soonish and see what happens...

Could be the sunroof drain pipe but who knows :(

Must be a very small leak because after running hose over all things that could cause the leak no visible drips came down, so its probally small amounts of water which over time run down the pillar inside the car and into boot, which makes the job of finding the problem even harder

I'm out of ideas :(

might be where the sunroof drain pipe connects to the drain hole on the sunroof tray.  I'm not really sure how you'll get to it though without removing the headlining.

Rather annoying,

Probally won't bother :(

Any ideas on how easy it is to remove the headlining, and refit?

I'll take both rear windows out soon, clean all the rubbers/seals up and refit and see if it sorts the problem, although tbh i dont think the rear window is the cause :(

Well took of some headlining, door cards etc...

Appears leak is coming from all around the window =\

Have tried to remove window but no luck :( Any advice on how to go about it?

Seals seem pretty clean on the inside and outside so don't understand how the water is getting through

lay on back seat, place feet on window in corners.  PUSH with someone outside to catch it
