G40 Red **price dropped**
« on: November 11, 2009, 10:38:37 am »
Price now dropped to £1800 ovno, I've found a car for the missus and could do with selling this now.

Polo G40

The car is genuine (not re shelled). It has been serviced by VW main dealers up until 63’062 miles after then it has been serviced by a VW specialist Deutsch Tecnique, its been serviced about every 5’000 miles all its life (currently 121'000 miles). It’s had 4 previous owners. Its fitted with Pirelli P slot alloys.

MOT till end of May 2010, tax till end of December

It has all the MOT’s from its first test to current. It has piles of invoices totalling thousands. All the original manuals (inc G40 supplement) and handbooks are present in the correct VW wallet, even the sales man’s business cards and VW warranty cards are there!

I bought the car with a view to spending some time and money on it to bring it up to a nice mechanical and cosmetic standard where I could take it to shows and for the odd Sunday blast! I have done this, and although I have not had the car long I have just finally managed to purchase a project car I have been after for years a S1 Escort RS turbo, I cannot justify having both so unfortunately the Polo has to go!

It has had a great deal of work carried out by me and also by the previous owner just prior to sale including:

Engine

•   New cambelt (117’000 miles)
•   New water pump (117’000 miles)
•   New camshaft and Crankshaft seal (117’000 miles)
•   New Dizzy cap and leads (111’500 m)
•   New clutch (111’500 m)
•   New clutch cable (111’500 m)
•   Rebuilt charger by G werks (111’500 m)
•   New custom full stainless exhaust
•   Remove manifold and remove rusted studs, replace with new studs and repaint manifold in heat proof paint
•   New thermostat housing and thermostat (a common polo weak spot)
•   New rubber fuel lines
•   Just under 300 miles ago it was fitted with a 65mm pulley and the correct polo performance parts chip, these can be easily removed if need be (standard parts included)
•   New fuel tank has just been fitted
•   Drilled airbox (a standard undrilled one is included also)

Suspension (all done within last 300 miles)

•   New Full polybush kit fitted to the front end (arb and tca’s) apart from the rose jointed inners (G40 specific) which were left. ARB painted and all new nyloc nuts used.
•   All new G max -40mm suspension fitted including springs and dampers. All new nuts used, struts were cleaned up and repainted in POR15 chassis paint before rebuilding with new inserts.
•   New top mounts on front struts.

Brakes

•   New rear drums, shoes and wheel bearings
•   Brand new front callipers on both sides
•   New braided brake lines for the front callipers (lines for rear included but not fitted)
•   New copper brake line fitted from servo to flexi hose on front.
•   Brakes bled with fresh fluid.

Body

•   Lots of polish!
•   Very nice condition, always looked after, some minor parking dings (see bad bits below)

I have receipts for all the above items, I haven’t added them up but they would probably come to more than I am after for the car!

It still has its stickers inside the rear boot panel (the G40 ones)

Bad bits

There had to be some!

•   The main point to note is the fact it was classed Cat d by the previous but one owner. This was due to an extremely minor dent on the rear quarter meaning uneconomical repair. In order to make the car “as new” the body shop said it needed an entire new rear quarter panel. The current owner at the time bought the car back and put it on the road as it was. As you can see in the photos the dent is extremely minor, It has to be pointed out to people before they realise it is there!

•   The body has a number of minor parking dings around the car. This was going to be my next job, however The Escort now takes priority.

. Its got some tiny wing mirrors on, which are great if you like small wing mirrors, not so great if you actually want to see what is behind you!

£1995

Going on Ebay soon, give me a bell or text if you want to know more

Cheers
