timing mark for the crank pulley

hi all just a quick question

the timing mark for the crank pulley is a little plastic pointer on the inner timing belt cover, well someone in the past has snapped mine off  .

so i was just wondering if the cover with the timing mark on it off my 1ltr polo would be ok to put on to the g40 so that i can get the timing spot on

any help please

i dont think so, but the new bottom covers from vw are about £8 and come with a pointer attached.  or I have a spare pointer at home.

ye rea i think mine culd alredy have being replaced becaus it did have a plastic pointer on it alredy
