Only my Genisis 1 Ltr.
On my way to DK`s to weld up his (2nd  ::) ) caddy last sunday my 1 Ltr suddenly
cut out when i approched traffic lights and junctions.
It was sluggish for the first bit of revs as i accellerated till i put my foot down.
It starts up fine from cold but after a few miles the fault occurs when its warmed up a bit.
It doesn`t seem to be all the time as it happened on the way home from some work i got
with a local firm but when i got home and pulled up it ticked over ok.
Though i am fairly good with them and have a few things in mind to check i thought i`d post to see if anyones had the same fault and what cured it.
I`m struggling to find the time right now to go through loads of possibilitys so any help would be appreciated.
Regards, Fred.

my G40's acting same Fred, except it doesn't cut out. Pete reset timing for me and it did nothing, also i've had the dizzy off and cleaned up,(could do with a new cap) also i've just checked the plugs, leads, injectors and ecu. still haven't solved it. if my memory suits me i once owned a 1.3cl and that used to do what yours is doing when it was cold weather, never got to the bottom of that either.

cheers Tom

clean all the earths is a good idea (and free!)

check the battery has got the right voltage and from the alternator

check that the fuel you've got is new and decent - my mum's 1litre used to be stood and then would run much much better with new fuel.

tdh-syorks

i checked all 3,
earths are good, batterys new and car hasn't been stood, i even checked the fuel filter on the lift pump which was mint

Fred

To be fair Pete, those wer the 1st things i checked.
It`s only been doing it since last week and sometimes
not at all.
One thing sprung to mind that happened to my mk2 some years ago
was that the mechanical fuel pump was ok but when i drove it for say
2 miles it would cut out completeley. Turned out that the breather pipe to
the fuel tank was blocked with crud causing an eventual vacuum wich
when left would slowly cure its self.
Till i`d drive it again for another 2 mile or so.
Took me a while to find that fault as its the least i thought of at the
time.
I`ll find it but it will take time.
Just hope its ok to get me to the RR day tomorrow.

Regards, Fred.

What was the problem in the end Fred? She purred okay on the rollers :)

Fred

I" she did Pete, but it happened on the way down briefly as we came off the motorway. was ok on the way home but then i followed Nick_S back incase he had problems.
We drove most of it farely slow so as to not build up too much water pressure in the Beemer wich was a shame as i havn`t drove on such a nice bit of tarmac like the road Nick took in such a long time.
Thoughts we`re Wish i was in a G for this.
Nick will have to say wich road it was but it was over moor land with reservoirs along its route.
I just hadn`t had the time to go through her properly but i will.
Have a few things in mind to check.
Must admit i was surprised at the result.
I know its not a G but it still makes me smile.
Was one of the best days out i`ve had in a long while
so thanks to you and Andy for that.
I still can`t believe that everybody whipped round for the run. Amazing!
Work seems to be picking up more so i`ll have to make a point of coming to more future events.

Best regards, Fred.

was the road the woodhead pass?  a628, leads you onto the m67.  That's the way I go when coming back from the m1/sheffield area.  It's a nice road but it always seems to be too busy to enjoy it, as it was today when I drove home on it.  Plus it was raining :(

Fred

Yeah think it was Paul.
smoothest tarmac i`ve driven on in ages.
Most of the roads all over are fooked especially
round here.
prob be nice to do woodhead pass at 3 in the morning then.
