hi people

The boost return mod is it werth doing? im running my boost return pipes on and i dont know if i should take then off? i dont really know how you do it properly, is there anything else todo other than take them off and block then inlet to the charger? will it gain me much power or do my chager any damage?

thanks matt :)

Shailan

why do you want to do this?

no real power gained by doing this. I am a hypocrite as I done this because I am running two inductions off the charger.

Again does it help with power? Probably not, but it sounds awesome.

I left the boost return to the rocker head on and only took the pipe off the charger, i then put a second induction on.

try it, however you will need an additional sleeve for the charger to connect the second induction

Well when I was at jabba they really didn't like the mod, i put mine back on as soon as I got the car - for charger health; I think VW knew what they were doing when they made it that way.

Also made the car quieter which was nice, but everyone has their own opinion on it! Some people love the 'dump valve' noise you get from removing the pipes.

For me the main advantage of doing this was being able to lubricate the charger with decent ptfe grease and not relying on the watery shite that comes out of the oil breather.

Also means the charger is taking in only cold(er) air and not recirculating air round and round the induction system, gradually getting hotter hotter.

VW did know what they were doing - it'd have been totally unacceptable to sell a brand new car back in 1991 which required the owner to spray expensive ptfe grease into the charger every 1k or so miles and the noise would have been totally unacceptable too.

And lets not forget that it also leaves crankcase evaporation system open, not very environmentaly friendly

yes indeed good point, probably wouldn't pass type approval like that.
