absolutely sod all, Cup Cars used totally standard gearboxes.  They had the option of adding an LSD to them if they wanted to which some did but the box itself is just standard.

And what advantages and differences does a lsd do?

the quick answer is that it stops the wheels being able to spin at significantly different speeds to each other.  The main advantage of that is that it stops the inside wheel spinning when putting your foot down in a corner and also reduces wheelspin from launching.  If you want more detail then there's loads of info to be found by googling limited slip diffs.
