the oil buzzer hasnt come on since i had a passenger in the car a week ago. picked my bro up today and within seconds the oil buzzer was going off. thinking back it seems to go off a lot more with a passenger on board. what would cause this?

im putting engine flush through it in about 10 mins and changing the oil back to syntha silver with a new oil filter just to see if this makes a difference

i have changed the spades on the sensors and changed the sensors already.

Well the oil pickup is on the drivers side, is your passenger considerably heavier than you and the oil level low?

g40chris

we are the same weight, both fattys  :D

the oil level was perfect.

i have now changed the oil and filter tonight.

the only other thing i can think of is the oil catch tank i am using, it has the breather from the back of the engine connected to it, it also has a drain at the bottom going back to the sump and a small breather filter near the top. could this be causing some kind of vacuum or blockage

im slacking at getting that oil pressure gauge linked up. im struggling to get the correct threads with a tail on it to come from a tee piece. the thread on my pressure gauge is easy enough to sort out. i linked it up at idle in the engine bay and it read 5 bar.

been struggling a little time wise to sort this out but i agree i think this gauge deffo needs to be linked up

i find it weird that the buzzer comes on with more people in the car

does the buzzer come on when at a stand still with a passenger or just when under load?

g40chris

just under load, but if it goes off and i pull over at idle the buzzer still will keep going.

aint gone off since i changed the oil but this has happened before and when i think its sorted it will go off again

grayg40

the buzzer its self isnt shorting out is it? try linking up a bulb insted of buzzer and see whats happening

g40chris

thats easier said than done when i know bugger all about electrics.

i will have to get a local electrics guru to look at it for me.

could the buzzer/light in the clocks have stored a fault or something and keeps coming back to it or would it just go off all the time then. im sure someone told me before that mk2 golfs have a similar problem

hayesey

nah it's far simpler than that, it's just a wire to a bulb and buzzer from the pressure switches, no "codes" or "faults" are involved.

g40chris

so if i track the wire from the sensors back to the dash then replace it then that will rule that out of the equation
