Yet another ex G40 owner

Just popping in to say hello.

We owned this G40 back in the late 90's for about 4 years.  Its previous owner was 'somebody I can't remember' Ford and had featured in a couple of mag articles, one I still have as a momento, The Golf mag.

This was the day we handed the keys over to the dealer/new owner.


It was nicely mod'd with an AMD chip and GTi discs on the back fitted by the previous owner, we then had the charger rebuilt to stage II I think at Jabba sport.

I attended one of the rolling road days with this club, maybe back in 2000 somewhere in the West Midlands, maybe some of you lot where there?  We eventually p/x for a Golf 1.8T and it was purchase by one of the mechanics at VW Parkway in Derby where we bought the Golf from, I think he may still own it.  Be interesting to know if its still out and about or within the scene.  Was a great little car in which we did over 60k miles in it, and the first proper fast car we had.

As ever it was one of those cars which I wish I still had.

Not sure, he was from Chesterfield way, he kept cropping up in articles for a couple of year afterwards, mainly Golf stuff though.  I think it might have been Mark or maybe Matthew?

We bought the car from a dealership in Burton on Trent.  I think it ended up going back that way too.

Don't know if it still is, but it used to belong to one of the guys at the VW specialists Aries Motor Co. in Nottingham. Think it was Marc Ford who used to own it and was a Club GTi Chesterfield member...

That's the guy, he traded it in or something with TL Darby in Burton.  We then traded our old Polo Coupe in for it.

That was about 10 years ago, I still have The Golf mag feature of it when he owned.
