i would love to have the cam in but everything we have tried dont work the engine just will not run right with the cam in

g40chris

which cam doesnt it work on

poloeatonm45

we think it is holding the exhaust valves open on cylinder 2 and 4  but we have tried everything to get it right but nothing seems to work the car just runs like a bag of crap

that sounds like someone has lapped the valve seats in too far, Andy had a similar problem once too.

Andy

Yep, I had the same problem with a BV head I've got. It could've been fine with a stock cam if it had a smaller base circle than the aftermarket one I'm using.

Have you tried a static compression test with the Eaton cam installed?

poloeatonm45

my engine will run perfect with the standard g40 cam in but it just wont have this eaton cam at all i had not thought about the valves being lapped in to much could this cause that though ? i mean surely the tiny amount of metal taken off a valve seat would not cause it to be held open??????????

Like I said, I've had that happen to me. Stick the Eaton cam in and then do a compression test.
