Can Pete/anyone confirm this please.

Had the engine out and I’m not 100% on  the way this was wired up. The spade closest to the engine is correct from memory but I could have sworn the black negative from the scuttle tray and the red positive to the alternator connected on the top of the starter.. Doesn’t make sense why but, that’s what I remember. There were two nuts on the longer top bolt of the starter. The bottom bolt is short and doesn’t have  enough thread for the negative and a nut.

Thanks

Adrian

On the back of the throw, the bottom leads is the output feed for the solenoid, the bottom the output to the motor...  A bit like this one!

I'd love to know, what's the difference between the two spade terminals? Could one be a buffered input (relay/whatever) explaining my immobiliser over-current?

Hi mate,

It’s all good. I realised the black lead I just assumed was a negative is the positive from the battery. The positive for the alternator and it are on the upper bolt of the starter.
I read somewhere what the other spade was for but forgot haha.

Check the cable on its run around the sump, they like to go all hard and crusty then snap. Worth replacing if they're worn!

Cheers mate, I’ll have another look today though it felt fine when I was fitting it. Had a protective sheath around it.
