water rear drivers side foot well

has anyone come across any water in the rear footwell behind the drivers seat? any pointers on where its could be coming from?

i know its not the battery tray, because drivers side footwell, is dry, and it looks like it been fibre glassed

i reckon its coming from the driver side door card, i had a similar problem in my mk2 gti (common problem), but not had a chance to check it out.

any help is much appreciated, cheers

Mine's leaking water in to the same place from the driver's door seal - the very back edge at the base is knackered.
