removing supercharger
« on: June 20, 2009, 12:25:49 pm »
Need a little help.

My head gasket has gone so thought I would start working on it. I am stuck already on the Supercharger.

The charger is free but there is no space to remove it. I have removed the intercooler but there is still not enough space!

looking at the faq it says to remove the pulley then remove the 13 bolts for the bracket.. now i can not see the bolts and do i have to remove the pulley?

Thank you

you can take it out by jiggling it around.

Or unbolt the engine mount bolt and lift a little the engine...

I tried jiggling as much as I could.  :(

I will try again on Monday, hopefully it will come out and I can start the actual work.

Yep you need to remove the charger pulley if you want to take it out through the top of the engine bay. Even then you have to twist it something like 90 degrees to get it past the slam panel without scratching it.

The exhast manifold came off with the head! The studs were beyond cleaning up so just undone it from the other end of the manifold, a 19mm i belive (dont hold me to that)
