Hello to everyone here on the forum. I a new member and have since a couple of weeks a Genesis G40 and try to restore it to it's original state. I am from the Netherlands and play around with VAG cars for a while, my other car is a Leon FR but the Polo G40 brings back old memories when I had a Polo in 1993.

Hopefully someone help me with this, I am looking for the original EPROM (or even better the binary file to program an EPROM) for a G40 ECU.

Thank you
Matthieu

Correct, I want to have the stock chip or the binary file to program an EPROM. Would nice to have the EPROM label/sticker data as well. The file only can be send by email.
thx.

I think I have a stock chip but not as an email, just as a physical chip.

Vizor

i want stock maps too :) if someone have it and can send it ?

mstar

thinking... you have the EPROM.....and I have the EPROM reading/programming equipment. If I have a good undamaged EPROM (not damaged by static electricity (ESD)) I can read it and duplicate it or save the file.
I am in the Netherlands btw. Let me know if you are willing to send it to me, I will send it back to you.

Problem is that I at the moment cannot test the "source" EPROM and later the duplicated EPROM.
Vizor can you do that? Where you from?

Vizor

I'm from Bulgaria and i have read/write equipment too (willem). i found drivers for emc2001 for g40 :) i can read/write all tables in maps.. just want to try to break my car :D
Yoof don't want to send me turbo chip for my car and i'll do it by myself

polo classic

If it is the ECM supplied drivers for the G40, they do not work "very well"

Vizor

that exactly i want to try..
this is a driver -> VWPOLG40.DRV
if you have better than that.. tell us :)

mstar

still anyone willing to send me the stock EPROM  :)
Promise to return it including one extra.

I have the binary for a stock MK3 G40 ECU somewhere (I think it is on my PC at work - I will try to find it on Monday). There was a thread a while back that has information on where the maps are and how to set the rev limit value:

hi G40supercharged,

today is monday :P just want to remind you :P

G40supercharged

I have found a copy of the original G40 chip. The file format is Intel hex.

mstar

Hi G40supercharged, I loaded your hex file and I got a binary checksum 26040A. Do recall this checksum value?

Do you have the EPROM label details so I can reproduce the label?

Thanks
Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,
Sorry I don't have a checksum value for the original chip. (I used to have the programming equipment at work but they have thrown it all away!) As the EPROM is 8 bit data it should not be possible to program the EPROM incorrectly from that file. If you make one and try it in the car, it will either work fine or will do nothing at all.

I don't have the label details but I think it just has the ECU part number printed on it.
