How much bore do they need to breathe though? Mine are like cholesterol clogged arteries, there's about a half inch bit through the middle.

in the pipe coming from the breather pod to your chassis leg?  hmm that does sound a lot. 

I use 1 inch bore pipe running directly from the breather pod (plastic one way valve removed) to a catch tank.

I've got the same, but without a catch tank. I'll try sqeezing the gunk out of it this weekend, but I think it's fairly well gummed up. Probably because it's had a couple of years where I've not used it as much, or at least not taken it for many long drives.

I think the issue is, using it as I am now it's started loosening up and coming out again.
