hi there all i am new to g40's i recently bought a nice one and the previous owner gave me this spec
Pitstop Developments Full Blend Charger
• Standalone supercharger oil supply
• Boost re-circ pipe and oil breather system removed, oil catch tank fitted
• Polished inlet manifold
• Flowed and polished throttle body
• Pitstop Developments Toothed Charger Pulley and Chip Conversion
• Mocal Oil Cooler
• K&N induction kit
• Powerflow 2.25 custom-built stainless steel exhaust with VW decat pipe.

Rolling Road Rated – 152 BHP

i havnt had it rr rated but it does feel quick i beat a type r of the lights , i think its running standard injectors how can i check how much of a bhp gain would g60 injectors give me and what sorta map would i need considering the above spec ? would a fmic help im after a reliable 170-175bhp without spending the world but i understand threr will be a reasonable amount of moeny involved. what would be my fisrt steps best bang for buck performance mods all help appreciated :)

injectors wont add bhp- but would make it safer, less likely to run lean - a new map would get the best out of it - custom ideally.

Next mods you may wish to consider a gt inlet manifold (if yours isnt)
a 4 branch manifold
a decent front mount
water injection (aquamist etc)
big valve head
cam

look at robin's build - his is a similar spec.

To get a good reliable 170-175bhp youi'll need to spend a fair chunk of money to get from where you are now with 152bhp.

I am running just under 170bhp but aiming for 180bhp with a custom ECU map. I am currently running the following spec, i have put prices next to the mods that you don't have on your car which i currently have.

1341cc Forged Pistons - £600-700 (a few G's have made 170bhp without this conversion though)
Full Blend Supercharger
Toothed Belts
Front Mounted Intercooler - £150
4 Branch Manifold - £300
63mm Full Exhaust System
51mm throttle body
GT Inlet Manifold
Methanol/Water Aquamist Injection - £300
1341cc High Lift Shrick Camshaft - £150
250cc Injectors - £80
Custom ECU Map - £300

I have a feeling that you have bought the Red G that Phil was selling a while back.

I would say the next things to do are big valve ported head, gt inlet manifold, aftermarket camshaft, custom remap.

Once you get much above 160bhp then you do need to start thinking about using 250cc injectors in order to ensure the engine is getting enough fuel and not running lean.  You can't just bung them in though you need a remap to suit.

thanks for all your advise i think my next step im gonna take is either a 4 branch manifold or a might save a couple more hundred  quids and go for a big valve head ported im only looking for ana extra 10-15bhp is this the most reliable and cost effective way to do it then ??

Robin

next mod you need is some bigger injectors (250cc) and then get a ECU map from Peformance Polo Parts (got a section on this forum) for the spec and then look into getting a 4 branch and then go for the big valve head although the BVH will set you back around £500+!

Dan

You might wan't to consider putting what power/torque you currently produce on the tarmac. Maybe get some bigger injectors and suitable chip. Chassis mods might be better spent on making the car quicker on the road, rather than chasing BHP.

I`m fairly Limited on knoulage of them but one thing i do know is
if you havn`t got one of Yoof`s subframes with that much power then
your definatly heading for chassie leg snappage.

Go for the full version wich will improve handling and do consider the LSD.

hi at the moment im running 195/45/r15 rh wheels and they llook great and give exellent grip im running toyo proxies they really are very gripy my cars handling is fine its got kw variant 2 coilovers with eibach upper and lower strut braces and poly bushed all round theres not to much wheel spin only in 1st and 2nd so im not to aorried about any handling mods just wanted a lil more power not much that was i was looking for guys , thanks for advise though im litraly only after 10-15 bhp i might try bigger injectors new map and how much is a lsd going to set me back? And will the injectors and map gimme ne more power? Also pulstar plugs my plugs wherent changed that long ago but these plugs say that they increase power and feul economy any one tried these out on a g or is it all hype? And how about a 4branch manifold i know they look cool but much of a power increase?? thanks again for the input ladies and gents

A subframe is a good idea to stop your chassis legs splitting from the extra power. It does happen and most likely will happen if not careful.

Bigger injectors wont give you more power but will stop any chance of your engine running lean which causes pistons to melt!

A LSD may set you back around £500 but a worthwhile investment.

You really want proper Bosch plugs in your engine (W5DPO is the code but i think its changed?). I'd hazard a gues that the plugs you have dont give much, if any increase in anything.

A 4 branch manifold may give you 5-10bhp extra but it all depends on the engine itself as no 2 engines are exactly the same.

ok thanks for help guys im going to get a subframe from yoof some new injectors and a custom map for the minute then ill go from there cheers for advise though has been helpful
