Exhaust bore?
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:04:10 pm »
Having an almost standard polo it's time to change the exhaust (cat-back) because both silencers in the boxes are broken so they start to make noise...
I'll definatelly use inox pipes and boxes with inox welding...
Also, i'm going to make 2 boxes to keep the noise down...
My question is what's the most efficient bore that the exhaust must have (from midbox to backbox)

Thank you for your time, Alex...

i use 63mm bore but thats just purely for performance reasons.. and is very loud with no box's at all

i used a 50mm ( 2" ) system with a standard middle box and was a great system with low noise until you hit the full throttle. and has good strong tone to it with lots of torque and mid range pull

My G came with a 65mm Speedtech system which is probably only a benefit if you've got a lot of horses or a turbo.Strangely enough, it exited through a 50mm tailpipe. Basically it was crap.
I've now got a 50mm powerflow system which is shiney enough to impress Hedgehogs and more importantly, it sounds AOK. Pleasantly muted but snarls when you put you'r foot down. Recommend 50mm.
