g40 turbo chip
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:16:00 pm »
Could anyone give me a file or a chip for g40 with turbo? I have the following problem: The compressor blows at very low revs, at which I don’t have boost. I can’t find anywhere a chip for g40 with turbo.
Regards

What turbo?
Which manifold?
Which injectors?
What size downpipe?

do you mean a k04-15 turbo?  If a k14 exists wouldn't be huuuuuge?

Anyway, you'll need to get a better suited cam, one from a GT engine (code 3F) is better suited than the normal g40 one.  Ideally get a cam that's been designed to work with a turbo, Cat-cams, Newman etc... sell them.

The stock injectors aren't going to be up to the job either, you'll be wanting at least 250cc (g60) injectors and perhaps 310cc.  What boost are you planning on running?

Then the last thing on the list is a remap, an off the shelf chip isn't really going to cut it.  You need to find someone who can remap digifant in your area/country and get them to have a look at it.  Otherwise I've seen "g40-turbo" chips on ebay and the like but no idea if they are any good.

Yes its huge :)
i have boost on 3k rpm
3f cam is better than g40 ? hmm! i'll try this!

injectors will be changed soon but rail ? i mean to change fuel rail with 1.8t (vag AUG engine) with 3.5bar fpr

boost that i plan to run is arround 0.9
now my pressure is arround 0,6bar
can i boost it to stock pressure ? i mean 0,72 without problems? i haven't wideband and i don't know what afr i ran..

one my friend from germany remaps digifant without problem but a distance between our countries is the real problem :(

k14 is from 1,6td (golf mk2)

thanks for advices :)
i'll look for wideband to show afr with 250cc injectors at 0,75bar

any other ideas?

pretty much any bosch injectors will fit in the same fuel rail.  Leave the FPR as it is no need to increase pressure, a remap will sort fuelling for you.

is a turbo from a diesel mk2 golf going to cope with the heat generated by a petrol engine?  Anyone else you know done the same conversion?

And lastly, get some pictures up  ;D

i know for fuel rail but agn or aug rails looks so good  ;D
i have no problems with this turbo! the heat part looks strong for now
look specifications of calibra's turbo..
calibra is the only petrol engine who uses that turbo .. others is diesel (2.4td and many more)

here it is :)

oh so is it the same turbo as used on a calibra then?  Very interesting.

Can you not get someone from Germany to post parts to Bulgaria?

Increase in fuel pressure often isn't a bad thing- better atomisation allows a more efficient burn for the same quantity of fuel injected, you'd be surprised the differance a 1 bar increase in fuel pressure can make to your spray pattern!

However, it's not something you need to do- personally I'd invest in a wideband A/F meter and take it to your friend for mapping. He might be a good distance away, but the differance between a guessed map and a properly set-up one could be the cost of your engine!

Turbo set-up looks good  :) I like the wolf in sheep's clothing  :)

i'll take your advice :)

my friend is good in tdi remapping. we work together .. i send him files from cars in Bulgaria .. he take it to closest church and send it back to me :)

but i dont trust him for my car :D
is lambda sonda correct in his results.. i can test it with tool..
0.00v is very rich (~17,5:1) 1v is lean (~10.1:1)..

what i'll be efect from 4bar (3bar is mine now..) fpr ? i mean .. injector issues maybe ? i have 4bar fpr in garage somewhere..

turbo setup will looks more likely if i change turbo pipes with new ones... this weekend will change all pipes with aluminium

don't change them with Al. ones but with rostfrei pipes. If it's possible put same lenght exaust manifold

I assume he means the boost pipes for alu ones, not the exhaust manifold.  You couldn't make the manifold from alu.
