my poorly G
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:44:14 pm »
i have had the G for a good 7-8 years now and the last 2 years its been off the road since i done the engine in on the pvw group thrash

been stripping it and rebuilding it since then and its nearly done now, just need to get myself a set of tidy wheels and fit the front bumper

here are a few old pics when it was on the road, and a few when it was feeling sorry for itself and a few of it at its nearly back on road state

this was last night all running

its taken me a while but in this time i have got married, built a double garage with a pit and redone the central heating when fitting new bathroom, so funds have been tight on the polo, been doing tiny little bits at a time on it. hopefully will get it back to show standard soon enough

looking good mate.  Is it running nicely?

Would you not be better with the standard cam than the eaton one?  Do you know the spec of the cam?

Are the pistons forged or cast?

i originally assumed the pistons were forged when i ordered them with aw tracksport for the engine build but i aint so sure now. they are carl schmit ones, apparently they are lightweight

its a pitstop eaton spec cam which has newman on there receipt, not sure on lift/duration etc. i dont wanna try it through the rev range as its on a fresh rebuild by myself and i dont wanna rev it to much to early until its run in properly.

how much do standard g40 cam's go for as i sold mine for £20
