charger belt tensioning?
« on: March 26, 2009, 01:04:36 pm »
Orite guys just putting my charger back on after fitting a new manifold and having a bit of bother with the belt, at first i couldnt get enough tension by moving the charger but read on here about a small amount of movement with the altenator so i did that and did get more tension, so started the car and the belt moved on the charger pulley towards the charger side and stayed there but only half the belt is running on the pulley now, any ideas? Its like the charger is out of line with the other pulleys but how can the be??

cheers Grant.

You should be able to get a visual(just) on the pulley lineup; no room for error here, has to be dead straight. How about the charger carrier, was it off during the job?

The belt is sitting perfectly on the other pulleys aswell, yes the charger carrier was off but i put it back on just the way it came off pretty hard not to really just bolts onto the block and the engine mount, no?
