chip and remap

hi can someone shed some light on these subjects please i no that people change the chip for different things but what is the diffference in chips and remaps thanks.

you'll see a small gain with a new map which has been created as a 'general' uprated map but you'll get a bigger gain from a custom map which has been mapped to your own car.

so how does it work then do you do all your mods and get a chip to like 8000 rpm for example then get a remap to suit all your mods
