1.6 8v G65 ...
« on: June 26, 2018, 10:59:38 pm »
Roetelle Racing on YouTube seem to have a few 1.6l G45/G60/G65 motored cars

Anyone have an idea how they are doing it? Using a 1.6 block out of a 6N with a G40 Head? or strokering?

most likely a 6N block. the 8V 1,6L block is slightly taller. The G40 block cant be bored and stroked to much more than 1520 cc with the long stroke Oettinger/Sorg crank, a bit less with the diesel 1W crank. With the Oettinger crank, you have problems getting the compression height on the pistons low enough for decent compression.

As for the head, you can either use a 6N head (for better flow) and an adapter for the PY/3F manifold or use the PY head

Thanks for that, very informative.

So would a 1.6 8V head be classed as an upgrade on a G40 block? As that could be an idea too.

Im looking to build my G40 to 200bhp but keeping it supercharged.

The 1,6L heads flow better than the G40 heads at high lift (over 9 mm), but remember that only the ports on the AEA/AEE is similar to the G40 head. The ABU have round ports

It would be hard to hit 200 with a G40 charger, a G45 or G60 would be better suited
