Resistor pack 867959131

Hello, looking for a resistor pack for the cabin fan my G40.

Part number 867959131 they're the same in all Polo's up to 1995 I think?

Or if anyone knows how to make one, point me in the right directions please. I can't understand why they're about £50.......for a few resistors?! Surely it could be made for a fiver? Anyone got any ideas?

I'm considering getting a more modern system. It's nothing more than  a thought but can't see why swapping the motor for a newer model and then using the newer (cheaper) resistor packs (about £15) wouldn't work.

Also had the same thought for the lethargic wiper motor, I was looking at the wiper motor on a Jag F-pace the other day, it's tiny but moves those massive blades. I've already fitted a more modern rad fan and a few other bits, slowly updating my car! Aftermarket ignition/ecu coming soon too!:D

Wouldn't be surprised if this'd do a more efficient job.. Khz Regulation has got to be better than kicking out all that waste heat...
I'd try this on mine but mine works atm I think! Be easy enough to wire in a thermistor and make it environmentally-automatic but there is just a turn-pot, set it halfway and superglue it under the dash....

What do I do if I get that? Pull out the original control knob and replace with that item?

Or do I utilise the existing switch, wiring, etc and replace the resistor pack with that item? Thanks.

I'd be temted to try it just in place of the old resistor pack...
Where there's an in and an out on the pack there's an in and out on a proper regulator and then a ground for the regulator to power itself..

It doesn't really matter :-) and the amount of heat it must kick out is negliagable compared to the 18MPG engine, but they do the job of in everything in the modern world. Just fitted one to the new electric fireplace fan we've had and that was one up to 2500W (we only needed 100 or so really) for <£20! They're fully on or fully off for that % of time so there's never current and voltage accross them so no heat, just like nearly every powersupply in your household stuff now.
