Spark plugs - Anyone used Bosch WR 56?
« on: May 01, 2018, 02:28:23 pm »
I was looking about for a cheap Haynes manual, ended up on their site and noticed as I was browsing through the examples of the content in the manual that it states to use a bosch WR 56 plug for a PY (G40) engine. Anyone ever heard of this before?

Is that a new plug?

I can't remember the ins and outs of plug codes.

The reason I ask is they're £3.50 each. A damn site cheaper than W5DPO's at about £15 each!

*edit* I've emailed Bosch enquiring about this. I'll update when they reply.

Spent a bit longer looking about on various Bosch sites and came across a list of everything they make for a G40;

http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com/en/internet/ECAT-RS/vehicle-info/-/vehicle/equip/VWW/986/as2p4bulrf591csfrpeec32hr1ujjpna

Long story short, it states W5DPO;

Spark plug, Double platinum (W 5 DP 0)   0,70 mm Electrode gap   0 241 247 500

I thought nothing worked except W5DPO's due to....... whatever bit of witchcraft it is that only makes W5DPO's work?

Could you tell me which specific NGK plug works please Pete?

Anyone else with working plugs feel free to pipe up with what has worked for you too!

Thanks.

ngk bpr7eix is the w5dpo equiv.

some people run w4dpo which are slightly colder, if you are running higher boost.

Never had any issues with ngk's. When I melted a piston I was running w5's but wasn't running meth injection which is probably why I detted the engine

this haynes manual states Champion NGBYC of which I can't find on the net.

Looking at the spec differences between W5DPO's and WR56, I'm not surprised it made a PY run like a bag of shite
