Update time.....

So after popping an oil seal a few months back I've got it rebuilt and ready to go....

Then tonight went to put it back in and complete blank can't remember how it goes in... thought I took photos on my phone but that's in the bin with everything lost.... has anyone got a step through of pics or even a good pic I can work off....

Cheers

You can't remember how to refit the charger? Or do you mean something else? I think Pete has a guide on here for that........

As you look at the engine bay, it's on the right of the engine, next to the distributor. There's a blue one and a black one (the colour of the sensor, not the plug connecting it).

Still in need of a standard set of belts, complete if anyone can help... a mk2f I think it is... K plate....

Right guys,

I'm really struggling and need someone to help me out.

After getting the polo running again I've hit a brick wall and can't get round it....

So start the car, runs fine, touch the throttle and it just stutters and dies.... or sometimes it will rev up and then just drop right out...

I'm completely stumped and want her back on the road.. someone please...

Have you followed the diagnostic guide? If you can confirm its none of those then may be easier to work out the problem

I’ve still not got any further with it. My mate who got it on the road said something about throttle control sensor or something like that but he’s too busy to come to the house for a look and I can’t get it to him....

Another person told me could be the tb......

Anybody......

I’m that fed up I’m considering cutting my loss and selling it as it’s wasted sitting in the drive

Have you gone through the diagnostic guide, as above?

You need to tell us what you've tried, etc. or we can't help!

After it dies does it start up again easily or is it struggling?

I had a similar issue this spring having not run mine for a few months, it turned out to just be the battery after having gone through most of the diagnostic guide on this site and messed about with everything else I could think of, I thought the voltage was decent at around 13v at idle but it was dying out and then it eventually didn't have enough kick to even turn over when warm. I didn't even suspect the battery at first because it would start up straight away from cold.

I bought a new bosch battery and it has been fine after that, these cars seem to be very sensitive to voltage drop so make sure you are getting over 14v across the battery at idle and rule that out first.
