Polo GT chassis G40 project available
« on: August 06, 2016, 08:34:45 am »
Hi guys,
It is finally time to sell my G40 project.
I have been living in Asia for 5 years and it is looking likely that i will not be back in the UK to finish playing with my G40 project.

Actually this car started out as a Polo GT and i spent a lot of time and money to modify and put together this car. The engine is low mileage and totally rebuilt.
You may remember me as "The Duck" on the forums.
Engine is low mileage with around 12K on the clock since the rebuild.
Last time it was on the rollers it pulled 243BHP with 178ftLbs torque at 14-15PSI boost. I spent a lot of time modifying the chassis and handling. Performance was considerable with totally neutral handling and able to apply the power down very well whether wet or not.
30-70 time was 3 seconds. Rev limit was set at 8K. Car was very tractable. Remap will release more performance from the engine as there was still some room to improve fueling.
Bad point is there is now no supercharger, it was a Mini Eaton with PSD modification. The bearings and drivebelt could not hold up and i took it off the car with plan to replace with a more capable eaton charger when the bearing assembly was showing wear. I did not want it to fail in place and potentially damage the engine.
The chassis is welded up, plated and strengthened to deal with the power on hand, no crash damage but does need some attention on the paint. The plan was always to finish this last. I have had the car 15+ years and it was well looked after. It is needing a little TLC but is sound.

Some of the spec:
G40 block with 1341 PSD forged pistons.
Bored by Hargreaves engineering in Camarthen.
Balanced crank
Polished & balanced end to end rods
Metal head gasket
Big valve PSD flowed head
Totally new engine rebuild including tappits all gaskets. (12K miles)
Run in on rock oil and oil changed every 3K since new.
Newman 1341 eaton spec high lift cam
PSD 51mm throttle body
Flowed PSD GT inlet manifold and uprated cone air filter with 330CC injectors (cleaned as new)
New fuel pump.
G40 ECU with custom map (You will need remap or new ECU)
4-1 PSD stainless 2.5"exhaust manifold and dual back box system (wrapped in fibreglass to isolate heat)
PSD intercooler & silicone piping with alu cowling
Std G40 rebuilt gearbox with plate LSD and correct oil (awesome performance)
G40 Helix paddle clutch with lightened flywheel and balanced assembly
FK coilover kit, new top mounts.
Home-made sub frame with ball joints and CDS tubing with bumpsteer correction.
Oil cooler and take off plate
cup car oil control windage tray
280mm disc conversion
rear G40 axle refinished and with disc conversion (almost like new) needs brake balance finally setting up
PSD uprated drive shaft and new CV joints (12K miles)
New fuel tank

There is a load more spec too.

It is a great track car or project for someone who knows what they are doing or wants to break for all the parts.
It has been stored in a garage for last 5 years, and outside only this year.

Please let me know if you are interested, i can discuss what is on the car. Also i can give you limited support in the history of the car and how it was designed/built. I can organise delivery on flatbed truck at cost. (Have a very reasonable local guy).
I did have an Emerald ECU and all the parts to put this together but left the UK before i got around to it.
I might be able to dig this out.

I can give you my phone number if you need to discuss further.
Looking for sensible offers for the whole lot.
In region of 2k with ECU. Based in Lancs Rossendale.
Breaking is not an option. Sorry.

Let me know and we can discuss.

Cheers

Andrew
