G40 trouble
« on: March 11, 2016, 02:56:11 pm »
Hi all, hoping somebody could help.

I have a mk2 with a G40 conversion and need a few parts to get it running again. The engine isn't getting Fuel or Spark and has been sat for a while now.

I've been told it can only be the Crankshaft Sensor or the ECU and Fuel relays by a German specialist who says he's had a few G40 and knows them well. I couldn't find original ECU and Fuel relays because they've stopped making them so bought from a German website but they haven't worked. Has anyone had the same problem or have any advice or parts? Can parts from any other engine such as GT be used? A mate who is a mechanic said it could be the ECU that is faulty.

if it  means buying the ECU with full loom and relays and sensors then I'd be happy to because I'm getting nowhere with it.

I'm based in Sheffield but can collect if any one can help.

Cheers

Rob

I am pretty sure there is no Crankshaft sensor on the G40 engine!

The signal to fire the injectors is taken from the dizzy. Maybe you should start there! How did you come to the conclusion it has neither spark nor fuel?

Can you hear the fuel pumps priming when you turn the ignition on? Also I'd be swapping the coil out as a cheap easy go at getting a spark. How long has it been since it ran?
