MOT fail on emissions
« on: March 06, 2015, 01:27:49 pm »
For some reason my car failed today, but for the past 5 years without a cat its been fine. He said it was quite high and the lambda reading was off as well.

It it be simply that its just in need of a new lambda sensor?

Is there any way i can test to see if its broken? My AFR gauge is reading pretty spot on. Was 14.7 - 15.0 on idle and when the lambda was unplugged it read a little leaner. 15.0+ all the time. I personally think the car didn't get to temp his time but any help would be much appreciated.

You been dawdling about in it? ;) Give it an Italian tune!

They should have a lambda tester at the garage! Fairly standard bit of kit.

It'd stink of fuel and have worse MPG than normal too (ECU doesn't kow what's going on so dumps fuel in as a precaution).

well it went back for a re test and was fine. The guy is dodgy as fuck and it under investigation as he has been passing some cars that should not be on the road at all. I think he failed it on purpose to make it look like he's actually doing his job. Wont be going back in future.
