have you tried companies like tesco and asda?  It's going to be expensive whoever you do it through at 18.

i had just turned 19 when i insured mine for £786 (RAC) with my dad as the main driver and 9 years no claims. i reckon they made a mistake and am scared that they might clock on and raise the price when its due again. i couldn't find anything for less than £1900 on 3rd party (not even fire and theft), plus my excess is £500. have a look on some of the comparison websites and try and get on someone elses policy, preferably with their no claims aswell.

ps. dont listen to everybody who says...."wait a few years blah blah blah" everybody needs a g40 in their life lol

i always have a right fanny on with insurance i recently got a quote and im gonna take it at the end of the month....its the new admiral multicar policy and it was much better than anything else i got....

for 1088 quid i got the g40 insured third party fire and theft in my own name with 3 points and no no claims bonus...my girlfriend also insured on it...AND....her 54 plate punto fully comp with both of us insured on that too...both with social domestic and pleasure and commuting....this works out about 400 ish for the punto and 600 ish for the g40...admitiddly not the cheapest but im 24 have never had my own insurance for the same reasons you mentioned and therfore have always been a named driver with my mother on the g40...so now im happy i can build my own up...

anyway i would give them a call if you have two to insure as it breaks down the individual cost of the cars and 600 and odd was way better than the 1300+ i was getting for the g40 on its own elsewhere...

one catch though..if you cant pay all  up front which i cant at the moment..you get hammered on interest...monthly we will be paying 111 a month for the two...65 for the G40 (i currently pay 60 as a named driver with tesco etc) and 46 for the punto....

personally i think youll struggle at 18 years oldon a g40 but its not impossible...i dont think a g40 in the hands of a g40 is a good idea anyway...i think there is a high chance of crashing...i started on a cl and moved up...helps you learn how a basic car works without good breaks etc...just my opinion anyway...good luck  :)

Have you tried bell insurance atall, there 10 month bonus acelerator thing has worked out quite well for me. £600 tpft an im 22 with two accidents an i do not have any no claims bonus either.

The tactic that always seems to work for me is putting my mum down as an additonal driver to the policy, seems to bring the quote down by a couple of hundred quid. However i understand that everyone is different in the qoutes they get. Just remember Insurance is all a business and they are very competative, get on the phone and call as many as you can giving them the lowest price you have and im sure some company will beat it. At the end of the day at least one company will really want your business.

Unfortunetely your age plays a massive factor in this, but good luck anyway mate.

My Insurance was a bargain... Had to start a new policy as all my no claims are on my Transit... So I have no, no claims on the new policy! I done it through Elephant for £350 fully comp. Also I added my sister who is 23 and her friend who is also 23 to the insurance and I saved £70!??!

I was really surprised how cheap it was.

it was £2300 on my own, £1600 with me and my dad and then £800ish with my mum. according to moneysupermarket.com adding an older driver can reduce your quote by 20%.

one thing about being a second driver on a plicey you will not get no NCB out of it and then when you do your own insurance ur gonna still pay high prices
