Indicator problem

hi peeps my problem is I have a buzzing sound coming from passengers side of the car
After a while I get smoke coming up from that side. The buzzing sound stops if I
Switch the indicator stalk on. Is it the indicator relay or something more? if anyone
Can help with some info it'll b much

From your description it sounds like the relay has shorted out. Could also be your flasher that is shorting out though causing it to malfunction.

You mean the indicator symbol flasher on the instrument cluster or one
of actual indicators

Sorry for my bad English. I mean the flasher lever switch. The one on the steering column. The contacts in them go bad after years of use. Maybe something shorts out in there! I had a problem similar to this but the smoke was coming from the steering column.

For starters I would try changing the relay cause that is most likely to be faulty. If you can't short a genuine vw one, General Motors makes the same flasher relay (I know cause there is one on my car) . If I remember correctly the vw original number is 21. If that doesn't short the problem then it's either the lever or a shortcut somewhere in the wiring that you will have to find.
