Capri green genuine Polo G40 - rebuilt engine, very clean
« on: October 25, 2014, 09:02:38 pm »
Well the time has come, im sure most of you know me/the car but ill do a proper write up for people who dont :(

Ive owned My G40 for two years now (longest ive owned the same car by a dam long time ha)
Its been great fun, is like a little go kart! even in totally stock form its surprisingly fast!! ive travelled 3000 miles round europe, to Switzerland, france and italy as well as a road trip around wales

This is a genuine original totally stock (bar the ride height G40) as most will know these are becoming rather rare! especially in such lovely condition

onto the car

The bodywork is very very clean! it has had a doors off windows out respray around a year ago and the paint looks lovely and clean still. there are a few stone chips and a couple of tiny car park dings since the respray but is very minor. the current sunroof hasnt been sprayed, however when i painted it i bought a new sunroof, deflector and arms, it just needs fitting.
The front panel has a few rust spots as it wasn't painted when the car was sprayed
all the glass is genuine vw glass and all original

The engine was rebuilt around 500 miles ago, the head was stripped de coked and cleaned, valves lapped in, alloy bead blasted, new stem seals and rebuild. the block was checked and new main bearings as well as big end bearings were fitted, new metal head gasket and head bolts

Here is a list of all the things ive replaced
supercharger rebuilt 7k ago and re cleaned 500 miles ago
in the last 500 miles its had
new exhaust system
new starter motor
new anti roll bar bushes
new track control arm bushes
new twin v belts
engine oil and filter
new air filter
engine breather pod
timing belt
dizzy cap
rotor arm
ht leads
new radiator
rad switch
brake hoses
new brake fluid all round
fresh anti freeze
new top mounts
new front wheel bearings

heres a list of the work ive done in the last two years and is all still good and well now
water pump
clutch
gearbox oil x2
fuel pump and filter
x2 outer cv boots
both temp sensors
coil
distributor
black poly engine mounts
gearstick repair kit
tracking recently done
rear drums
rear slave brake cylinders
front discs and pads brembo
new sunroof deflector and arms
new number plates
theres loads more stuff

As you can tell ive spent a serious amount on the car and its been well looked after
There are a few niggly bits but they are only minor
The rear badge says "o g40" as the pol bit has broken off unfortunately
the drivers door hinge is a little worn and the door drops a little, but its hardly noticeable and a new hinge from vw heritage is only £7.50!
The wheels are curbed a minor amount
The roof aerial base has broken so there is a grommet in at the moment to make it water tight, however decent replicas can be purchased

They are the ONLY bad bits i can fault with the car (and im mega anal!)

As you can imagine the engine runs absolutely spot on with a rebuilt engine, ive set the co pot properly with a gas analyzer so runs really well

Mileage 129k dont let that put you off, its actually quite low compared to most g40's haha
5 months tax
will have 12 months mot when sold

Here is the thread for the engine rebuild http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11423.0

The car is located near southampton hampshire

Price is £3200 or nearest offer, given the work carried out and condition of the car i think that is dam good :)

please message me or ring me on 07456898904, i may not pick up as i dont get signal at work so please feel free to leave me a voicemail or text

probably forgotten some stuff, but will update, many thanks
Taylor

Looks a bargain.

If whoever buys this wants a new aerial; I have one out of my old Capri green G40. Could do with a new rubber though. Pretty sure VW wouldn't sell it seperately.

Not trying to hijack your thread, I'd give the aerial away. Haha.

Hi.
I have a couple of questions.
What make and year are the tyres on the car?
What make are the springs, do you have the originals also?
How many owners before yourself?
Is the supercharger standard, no porting?
How many miles have you done since the rebuild, oil changes?

Thanks
Craig
