stuttery engine?

merry christmas guys
on the 23rd i drove from sunny scotland down to plymouth and the car went fine i got all the way here till ten miles from my dads house and the belt decided to shred... no biggy put a new one on eventually

checked the oil and water and everything is fine, but i took my dad out for a spin and i accellerated and the car was very stuttery it didnt like me being in 4th at 4k it felt like something was stopping it from going?
its fine up until that point
any help asap as tommorrow i head back up the road

Does it feel like it's missing/pausing and then go back to normal?

yeah but it doesnt go back to normal
it only does it when the engine is under load if im at a constant speed 70 80 on motorway then its fine

normal ignition components like coil, dizzy, plugs, leads, rotor arm, dizzy cap could cause this. What is new?
