gearbox oil low?
« on: July 28, 2014, 10:03:19 am »
went to the air show in cleethorpes yesterday and whilst stuck in stop start traffic for an hour i found it increesingly difficult to get in gear. mainly first and second and reverse. once cooled down it was fine again. will it need the box oil topping up?

I'd give the oil a change , but sounds like low level oil dude! Mines weeping at the selector and the case housing so I have the same issue sometimes

3.1 Litres, I purchased oil from VW end of last year, the chap that rebuild my box recommended cheap mineral oil from any supermarket due to its viscosity (I had already bought 4 litres from VW by then so didnt go down that route).  Unless you have a quaiffe diff then i dont know
