new - old guy
« on: April 24, 2014, 12:39:58 pm »
hello chaps

my name is Olly, aka olethalb or polo6n2g40 from clubpolo  ::)

i've owned a few G40's, red, black and capri green. i've also done a few g40 conversions - mk1 golf g40, polo 6n g40, gt g40 and as cp username suggests the infamous polo 6n2 gti g40.

around 10 years ago i built a mk1 golf g40 for a mate after he wrote his G off and the deal was if he sold it i'd buy it. after hime using the car daily for a year or so, then left it sat on his drive for 6 years, he then took it to jabba who had it for a year to fit new fuel tank / pump, injectors and custom map - £2.5k later he had it back and 2 days later took me out for a 'blast' this resulted in turn at high speed into gridlock traffic and the rear end of an old school land rover  :o

so....it was now clear i wouldn't get to buy the car so decided i'd look into getting another one sorted. after selling my touran a had a few quid floating around and found an unfinished mk1 golf series 1 with g40 engine sat in the bay - when the ad said unfinished it meant never finished / started and 80% of the car missing  ::) £3k later i made the purchase blind and had it delivered. this was the 18th Jan 14 and i've been peicing it back together since  ;D

Ow do. If this is the car I'm thinking of I've been keeping an eye on it on edition. Its coming along very nicely.

Any pictures of the previous cars?

thanks Sam, obviously i've picked up a few tricks since the first mk1 and 6n2 were built and got older  :D

as far as the engine goes in the mk1 it's almost done, think i'll treat it to some toothies and g60's and a chip.

i'm a bit out of practice with the G lump, it did come with a stage4 i think fresh jabba charger and 65mm pulley  ;D i'd like to aim for 160 ish really, my A4 should be 400bhp once mapped so don't want my fond memories of the G dashed

Wow, how on earth did you manage to fit those wheels on the black g40 H806 WGK? Looks amazing. How did you get so much camber?

The mk1 is lovely!

i can't even remember what the wheels were  ::) i had a g60 rallye and swapped it with this and a few £k in my pocket, got it off a guy called dave (g40dave on cp i think) it was pretty sorted G, fk coils, solid mounts, welded bay / support bars, rothe mani / exhaust all the goodies.
