Does anyone have a Mocal catch tank a bit like this? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/alloy-tanks-products/mocal-alloy-oil-catch-tank I'm looking at replacing my current one which has two 25mm connectors to match the pipe that comes from the breather pod from the back of the block. I use one as an inlet and one as an outlet for the pressure with a filter over it.

I was wondering, I've noticed the connectors on this are considerably smaller (13mm each). As I'll be only connecting one breather to this and it has a pressure release cap, I'll whack a T or Y piece in with a reducer on and connect to both of these. As the overall surface area of the connectors is considerably smaller, has anyone had any issues with pressure backing up in the crankcase and pushing oil out the dipstick tube? Also, does the pressure release cap give enough release to prevent the pressure building up too much? I'm assuming the pressure coming out here isn't going to be massive, but I'd like to be sure before forking out for it.

Finally, around the outlet of my current catch tank, the oil vapour does leave a little bit of a mess underneath the catch tank after a bit of time. Does anyone get this with the Mocal, or does the pressure release cap do a good job of keeping things clean?

Thanks  :)

Id be careful about using Anything with a restriction in it.... ive seen quite a few with increased crank casw pressure and oil forced out anywhere. ... including blowing charger seals!!!

I used to have a cheapy aftermarket catch tank which had 2 bigger connectors then the Mocal and had a small air filter on the top. Needless to say I had that issue of oil backing up through the dipstick under pressure.

I decided to get a 1L Mocal purely down to people opinions and reviews and although it has smaller connectors I haven't any oil pressure build ups since and no mess from around the catch tank. Saying that I barely do any miles in mine so I can't really give a long term performance review.

I'd try get a second hand one also as £150 is a bit extreme for what it is?

some of it also down to the route of the pipe.

Recommended was is to remove the breather.  Dremel the crap out of the back and turn it 90 degrees so the pipe has a smooth route.

Just a extra tip check the dipstick doesn't pop out of its slot , good sign of pressure building , ;-)

I once ran a small catch tank with 13mm inlets and a hose the same size. I could tell if gave an increase in pressure as when i undid the oil filler cap it almost wanted to blow off it.

I would get one like mine, custom made with a 25mm inlet, a -8jic inlet and a 20 or 25mm outlet for breather. Also got a sight level as well. Cost me £50

I've got a half inch pipe going to a coke bottle, vanilla coke of course, put a few holes around the top, has been spot on :) no pressure increase, and only cost £1.20 bargain!!

The coke bottle sounds stylish  ;D I didn't have any idea it could be so damaging with the restriction! Thanks for the info, I'll get something sorted out  :)
