Etches

Dan Knight made up a bunch of those Taylor, I've had one in the shed for 2 years haha! Looking good Martin, I'd be patching those holes mate forget replacing the whole thing. Still mega jealous of the Gaz rears  :P . Keep cracking on pal! Ps I'm going back to uni now haha

physicsfool

Talking to my fabricator chum tomorrow and seeing what I can do! Yes lad, university of Cumbria?

physicsfool

The stage 2 arrived today, so I thought I would paint it with por15

And now it's nice and shiny

Yoof

Looks nice  :)

Make sure the paint isn't too thick on the TCA mounts, otherwise you'll have to open them up (or remove paint) so it slides on.

Cheers

Pete

P.S- Did you prep with metal ready from POR-15 too?

Aha did warn you martin :P

physicsfool

Haha, it looked pretty good this morning, sadly no metal prep. But brushed the TCA mountings pretty finely so hopefully wont be too much bother.

Yoof

Hmm, see how you get on, but in my experience it will flake off  :(

z3i

Yeah, it's pretty particular, doesn't like going over paint either and has to be heavily scotched

Ah if it does martin I'll just prep and paint it when I do the car :) no sweat

Rule of thumb I should just leave the painting to you :)

AdzCM

When is Taylor spraying it for you? Top restoration going on here. I'd love a full respray.....hopefully next year.

physicsfool

June I think, keen to get mine back together. While its with Taylor will give me a good 6 weeks to concentrate on the engine

AdzCM

That's quite soon :D

What are your plans for the engine?

physicsfool

Bit of porting in the head but apart from that just a bearing refresh and re-bore for fresh piston rings. Trying to keep the car close to standard.

If you are going to the trouble of getting it sleeved/bored, would you not consider fitting larger pistons? Saves you doing it later if you wanted more power. Its a little expensive for the pistons but you might save a little in re-boring it to fit larger pistons than getting it sleeved/bored for the standard ones? I'm pretty sure that's more expensive than re-boring for larger pistons. Just an idea haha.
