Polo G40 R1 supercharger rebuild
« on: October 12, 2013, 11:47:25 pm »
Who's the best to go to for this?

I'm guessing mine needs a rebuild as it's making a chuffing noise, any advice

Cheers

I hear Matt from oonly charged dubs is good, no personal experience, just word of mouth.
don't use Jabba. Bad experience, they don'. Replace half the stuff

Every experience I've had with Jabba has been great, years ago one or two chargers didn't have outlet side bearing replaced. PeteG40 probably has the best experiance around though.

I wouldn't use the new guys. Only charged dubs. Pete / Jabba have been doing them for years. Much more experienced.

Jabba measure apex seals and decide wether to replace them or not, they also don't or very rarely change outlet bearings and seal
your paying £450 for a rebuild, that's appalling service in my eyes

Any of you ever had a sort of chuffing noise from your supercharger?

Chuffing? You got a video of it at all?

I had one done by jabba and it was fine. All my other chargers have been done by pete over the last 3-4 years and never had a problem. Pete has also helped me out when a charger oil seal ate itself and drank the engine oil, sent it to him, 1 week later it was back and has been fine since. Done over 10k now.

Jabba have got a lot of knowledge and brian is a really nice bloke. Most people i have spoke to say that they have never had a problem with them. The only downside i think to jabba is that when you call them to get some info and brian isn't there, they say we will call you back. I been waiting since end of august for that phone call.

Apex seals have limits and if they are not that worn, (my last charger service), then why change them? If they have got lots of life left then i wouldn't spend loads on re-newing them. Jabba did a part service on one of mine and asked if i wanted to replace them. Pete has also asked if i wanted them done when my oil seal failed and i said no as they were within limits.

What I mean is Jabba would replace say 6 out of 8 apex seals, to me that's just skimping. Cutting corners

But yeah Pete is your man, everyone Ive ever met speaks really highly of him, and same as jezza. Pete's helped me out many a Times
