Hi all
having a bit of trouble with my gaskets
vw and heritage say the rocker and sump gaskets are obsolete

ive tried sealing my rocker up with some liquid gasket on the rubber one but still leaks. Non genuine ones are crap

sump gasket i got a new genuine one and put a thin bead of gasket sealer round it but still leaks

anyone got any ideas? Getting to be a messy pain now

many thanks

used correct torque settings?

rockers you can get right ones from elring.

hayesey

sumps are a pain in the arse.  I usually put a decent amount of sealer between the gasket and the sump itself.  None between the gasket and the block but make sure the block face is clean enough to eat your tea off.

Thanks peeps
sorry i meant non genuine sump
i put sealer both side and got it pretty clean, ok i wont put it on the block side

i didnt pete, i didnt really think it would make much difference, clearly i was wrong lol

what is the torque for the rocker? And torque for the sump?
Cheers for the heads up on elring, gsf must supply elring ones?
the sump is card type, what is yours?
thanks for the help peeps :)

I dont use a sump gasket at all. Just sealant and works fine. Most cars these days dont use sump gaskets now.

Torque:

Camshaft cover screws    10nm
Sump                            20nm

Cheers for the jezza :) what sealant do you use for the sump? And do you use much? or a skinny bead?
did you get good results with it?

yeah i remember doing a autobox on a nissan note and nissan dont even make gaskets, just sent some sealing compound through

Your a diamond! Thanks fella :) will give it a whirl and let you all know :)
