sounds like I need early audi 80 carriers.  are these the ones? according to the ad its for 83/84 audi 80

I have found these as well.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-MK1-Golf-Brake-Conversion-Kit-Brackets-For-G60-Calipers-280mm-Discs-/130665624364?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e6c47332c

would give the option of running g60 brakes which I believe to be 280mm.

would that be abit over kill on a mk2??

You can just use the adaptors and then use mk2 golf 16v brakes and run 256mm :)

I think that might be the easier option, as I I'm cort of having trouble finding the exact audi 80 carriers I need.  but would the 280mm discs be overkill?

280's may be a bit much and that would mean you would have to run 15's... where as if you bought the adaptors and ran a 256mm mk2 golf 16v set up you'd be able to run 14's too and a set of 16v brakes always go for about 30 quid.. and is a lot cheaper than finding audi 80 carriers and then the calipers aswell..

Can anyone tell me  which variant of Passat the 200mm drum brakes come off. Bought some last year but am looking to get a new fitting kit and can't seem to nail down the right one on GSF. Would it be the same as the MK3 Golf that one of you guys used?
Thanks.

it's a 1984 model if I remember correctly, they should be able to find them on their catalogue in GSF.

Cheers guys, went to GSF and they struggled to find a fitting kit for me. Since then i've been back and measured the drums, and they look like could be 230mm instead?

I've measured across the outer face, where the wheel bolts go in. Annoyingly don't have enough space to take the wheels off until the weekend. Measured about 24omm in diameter, hardly scientific but the best i can do until i can clear some space. If you could measure up yours that would be ace.
Thanks.

I think the diameter is the inner diameter the shoes fit into.

86c Polo are 180 x 30mm
Mk3 Golf and others are 200 x 40mm
Caddy diesel pickup and Passat TD are 230 x 40mm
