i cant remember but i think if your car is old enough it doesnt need the cat for the mot. i think it is mid 92 but yous are maybe newer than that. and i dont think it matters what manifold you have on.

k reg (which came out in aug 1992) needs to do a cat test.

G4O LP

That's not strictly true the py engine code is excempt from a cat test.

dannyb.G40

mines a L reg, so i thought it does need a cat test, but it got through easily without.

Whether the mot station did a cat test is another matter...

mmm interesting, anyway considering the ball ache of removing the manifold I think I will chance it without for the MOT, lijke you say dannyb.g40 a retest is free after all!  mines a K plate btw

dannyb.G40

Its free at most places, make sure you check first!

i asked my mate that works in a garage and he said you need a cat from 93 onwards. your cars are maybe 93 onwards

samg40

Yes but as said above the PY dosent seem to need a cat test. When I have asked before the tester said that G40's dont exist in his computer so he put my car through as a non cat car. Put it this way my car sailed through the test without a cat in march of this year and its a K plate.

I think the change has come about since the computerisation of mots because it seems that if the computer doesnt recognise the car then it only does a really basic idle test.  Seems a bit of a loop hole.

generally speaking it was always cars from aug1992 (when k plate came out)
