Hi,

I'm new to the forum, will introduce me in a difference topic.

Anyway, I'm looking for information on which parts to use to convert a 86(c) Polo to AFH engine.
I've tried the search-tool, but nothing specific came up.

Basic questions are:

- can I use G40 (ATV) gearbox
- which starter / flywheel / clutch-kit to use
- which exhaustmanifold etc.

It'll be fitted in my mk1 Polo GT, which is currently running stock 1.3 HH engine, on 4 branch manifold, and ATV gearbox.
Ideally want a simple install, AFH engine running Jenvey's (N/A)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Martein

It's a bit off-topic on a G40 forum, but I will be fitting an AFH in my mk1.

You can use an ATV code box without a problem, the gearbox architecture is the same, it's just different ratio's.

You can use either the AFH flywheel with AFH starter motor, or the earlier pre 94 flywheel. There are two types of clutch available 190mm and 200mm.

If you are looking for a four branch manifold, you can get them cheaply from eBay for about £150.

I'm going to use an ATV gearbox with lightened early flywheel, custom made starter motor (my engine will be higher compression than standard)

Good luck
