Spark plugs???

I've just found out that my car is running with Bosch g60 Sparks plugs, I've asked the guy I brought it from why and he said jabba sport said to when running higher boost from 65mm pully and chip. He said the standard ones don't produced a strong enough spark. Is this correct?

how much boost are you running? I am running 1,2bars and standar are fine.

I'm not sure on psi but it's a ported r1 spec with 65mm pully.

Im running R1 spec on 65mm pulley and run NGK iridium spark plugs.

Been to the nurburgring and a track day with them in no bother at all, a sparks a spark at the end of the day.
, aslong as they are designed for the car.

I think that's waht I'm going to go for, can't seem to get hold of the Bosch w5dpo plugs.
I was just a little worried that these g60 ones run hotter and would do damage to Pistons etc....

standard g60 plugs actually run hotter than g40 ones so they'll be worse for tuned cars than standard plugs. 

g60s have w6dp0 normally, g40s have w5dp0.  Some people running a lot of boost use w4pd0 in G40s now.  w5dp0 is sold to g60 owners as an upgrade.

Or a lot of us (myself included) use the NGK equivalents now as they are much cheaper and at least as good (some people reckon better).

it's nothing to do with spark strength though, it's how hot they get during running.  Cooler is better (to a point).

I figure the reason the W5's cost soo much is because they also fitted Porsche 911 turbos and Some Ferraris from the era. Posh-boy price inflation!

Partly the price was precious metal content (Platinum), and the other was volume (W5DP0 aren't exactly a common plug). The NGK equivalents use Iridium which is less than half the cost of Platinum, and they seem to have a wider application list - both of which presumably contribute to a lower end cost.

Trick is to buy a set for an 8 or 12 cylinder Ferrari and split it with some mates!  ;D

Could this be one of the reasons that mine gets hot pretty quickly in traffic even in this freezing weather as it's got the g60 plugs in?
Think I'm going to bite the bullet and get some of the w4dp0 plugs.

no it's the temperature the plugs will stay at, no affect on engine coolant temp.  Fuel mixture issues are the most likely culprit if your engine really is heating up too quickly but what makes you think it is anyway? 

g60 plugs are most likely to cause preignition under high loads.

Just seems to get pretty hot in traffic, goes really close to 110 degrees then the fan kicks in and it drops. It scares me so if I'm in traffic I stick the heaters on full :-)
Does anyone no of a lower temp fan switch??

Do you have a fmic? That could cause some overheating due to bad flow!
