Just finishes my rebuild with wossner pistons etc
Should I use running in oil or Stright for the synta silver 10-40 semi synthetic oil
??  ???

Etches

I just used castrol 10 -40 semi synth. Changed it a fair few times in the first 1500 miles anyways but never had any problems. I used a magnetic sump plug too.

Is that castrol magnatec 10w40 in the green can ??

brownysblower

synta silver 10-40 and a genuine filter !!

As above, just normal Synta silver 10w-40.

I wouldn't treat it overly nice either, just keep the revs moving up and down and give it regular oil changes for a 1000 miles.

There's a bike builders page somewhere that's a really good read, basically he just goes out and kills them, it's just about not over loading them and letting the engine run back down the revs on it's own.

My engineers have always turned around and said with modern oils there's not much point in running them in, usually does more bad than good :)

Ok that's great where can I get synta silver from ? Vw dealer

TPS sell it, think its £17 for 5 litres.

I would recommend a magnetic sump plug as well. Awesome gti sell them.

I just got 4 of them on eBay for £52 delivered. Works out around 13 each including postage so quite good!

Or just stick a magnet on your existing sump plug. Same result.
