Sorry folks this is not G40/GT related but could do with a suggestion or 2.

right folks,

I have a mk2 coupe S running the piedburg carb( this is a temp engine until my new G project kicks off).  Since buying her she she has never ran right.

In a nut shell I am getting fuel to the carb however she initially is very reluctant to start and when she finally does she runs like a bag of spanners.  missing on 1/2 cylinders if you get her revving she can run on all four but then back onto 3 and then no matter hwo you fettle the throttle she will bog down and die.

We have had the carb off and cleaned her out and reseated her.  We have checked spark across all four cylinders and although its not the bluest I have seen we do have spark.  I have changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm and will drop 4 new plugs on her tomorrow.

I am not used to Carb setups to be honest so cannot see why she is refusing to run normally.  It can take upto 20 secs sometimes for her to even think about firing and even then I dont know if she will just die again, run for a few seconds etc.

We decided to close bonnet tonight and ask the question on here and go back to her tomorrow with a fresh set of eyes.

From previous experience I want to say its a fuelling issue however there's a niggle that says it may be electrical.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

running on all four now just cannot get her to idle.

She just dies when foots off accelerator.   Tried adjusting idle screw but no joy.

Sounds like overfueling or timing to me! mess around with the distributer a bit, see if that changes anything!

sounds like the fuel pump problem I had, fuel lines were perished inside feeding the carb with tiny hard pieces of rubber, thus blocking the lines and stalling the car.
