Ok..a bit strange this. had new seals in the charger today so had all pipes and I/C off to clean oil out of them. had the inlet manifold off also to get to the ISV and clean that. put it all back together and it drives fine, boosts fine but after you drive at a constant off boost its losing power sharply for a split second every 5 seconds. (like its missing) either pull up or dip the clutch and turn the car off and back on and the problems gone until the next time you give it beans.
Any ideas guys as i have checked everything i thought of and still the same.

Hall sender on the way out is my guess. You got a spare dizzy you can try?

I got a new Bosch hall sender for £60 from eBay as mine died on the M40 towards the start of this year (in the outside lane naturally...  >:()

How come you got the seals done?

metz

The springs on the main shaft seals had chewed up and were pissing oil through.

ive not touched the hall sender at all today though. only started after putting the inlet back on, could it be anything to do with the knock sensor? the plug on that is broken and the metal connections are showing so i taped over them. not noticed it before so not sure if it happened today or not.

Yoof

Won't be helping for sure.

Quick test is to unplug it, and take it for a drive, see if the fault goes away  :)

I did and the fault was still there

So i pulled over and switched it off then plugged it back in and was sat texting OCD matt a couple of mins with the engine ticking over. and ever since the problems gone. only thing i did different is not plug the kncok sensor back into the bracket on the side of the inlet. oh and i didnt wrap tape around the exposed metal pins

I'd say that is defo knock sensor related. I had similar years ago. The prongs on the plug actually came out of the back of mine and I'd put them back in the wrong way round. It was quite a violent jolt as I recall but when I put them back in the right way around it was fine.

metz

yea i thought it was maybe knock sensor too but it still did it with the sensor unplugged Sam.

It probably would yeah. I'd say you've sorted it for now. Must have been contacting each other or something when taped/attached to the bracket.
