Water Pipe gasket or just sealant?

Okay so about to put the water pump pipe on, is there a gasket for it? If so where do i get it from? Main dealers? Or can i just use sealant around the whole thing ? Cheers

There is a gasket but I have found that it doesn't do very much so I use gasket sealant on it instead.

The new water pump? No it didnt come with a water pipe gasket, should it??

well, it's a while since I've bought one but I thought they came with a new rubber seal.  Perhaps that's just from VW themselves though?

I bought a continental one the other day and it came it came with rubber seal. Didn't use sealant. after 500 miles still no leaks

The water pump itself comes with a ruber seal yes, but i was after the water pipe gasket.

ahhh, totally misread the post!

I just used blue hymolar sealant stuff.  Has survived years of track days and stuff.

Haha i was hoping you two had mis read it, yeah i just lumbered it with sealant! Cheers guys
