You got any gearboxes and slip diffs? Preferably quaife
cash waiting thanks

Phil

Got a couple ATV's left, but no diff. Never liked how they drove on the road in FWD cars.

boyzey

oryt you got any standard g40 pistons or bottom end, if so price please

z3i

Any good condition atv's? Good gears and syncros, low mileage ish with no leaks or crunching and minimul play in the selector shaft? Not much wear in the diff? Any play in the driveshaft flanges? Sorry for a massive load of questions, just trying to find a good box
how much are you looking for?
How come you say that? Thought the diff helped traction and cornering ability?

Andy

Quaife is utterly fine on the road, the Grippers and Ricardo/Gemini plate LSDs can be very snatchy depending on how they've been setup.

Phil

Yep, the cup car diff I had snapped a driveshaft on first agrressive launch.

I haven't driven a polo with a quaife on the road (and by comparison a G40 is more progressive) but I drove a focus rs with a quaife atb and 3/400hp. As soon as it tickled boost the car would aim for the kerbs or oncoming traffic. Didn't have a long drive in it, but it was enough for me not to ever crave one in FWD again. It is opinion and I'm sure once you get used to it you'll start to reap the benefits, but certainly not for me on a turbo fwd road car.

Taylor I'll have a look at the boxes and let you know what I've got left.

Andy

That's torque steer, and not the diff.

Jezza-7

Mates mk2 golf 20v t has a quaife diff and its amazing. comes out of corners like a rocket.

Phil

You speak as if the Quaife has no disadvantages?

From my experience a G40 and open diff doesn't pull around too bad when the suspension is tight, it just lights up one wheel. Take a rwd car and a rear wheel will do the same, take one with a diff and it goes sideways. Throw some normal bumpy road's into the equation I'd be very surprised to hear an ATB does not pull you around. Whatever you want to call it.

You have to adjust you're driving style and be more on the ball. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the benefits outweigh the cons once you get used to it. All I was saying is a diff in a fwd car is not for me especially with added turbo lag. Preference.

polo classic

Phil

K04-23. I did have it fitted to a polo 2 for mock up, needed clocking but it fitted.
